Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of distance between effective top tube length(ETTL) and saddle height(SH) on forward head posture(FHP) and muscle activity of neck and shoulder muscles during cycling.
Method: 24 subjects who healthy conditions were asked to perform cycling in five conditions(standard, +75 §®, -75 §®, 15¡Æ and 35¡Æ). Forward head posture was analyzed craniovertebral angle(CVA) method. Surface electromyography recorded the upper trapezius(UT) and cervical erector spinae(CES) muscles.
Results: There was signifiant difference in the CVA between ETTL(p=.000) and SH(p=.006). CVA was negatively correlated with ETTL and SH. There was no significant difference muscle activies in left UT and left CES.
Conclusion: In this study it showed that CVA is affected by ETTL and SH during cycling. And muscle activity is influenced by ETTL in right CES and UT.
